Irrigation Shutdown | Startup

Irrigation Winter Shutdown

Most homeowners and even many lawn care or landscape professionals believe the only steps to winterizing a sprinkler system is to just turn the system off for the winter and maybe open the drain valve. However, this practice still leaves the majority of your system full of water and susceptible to breaks, leaks, and costly repairs. In order to fully protect your system, we will take the following 7-step process to make sure that every component of your sprinkler system is fully protected:
  1. Shut off water pressure to your irrigation system via main gate valve
  2. Open main drain valve at beginning of system to drain out main line
  3. Open drain valve inside electric valve box (if applicable) to drain lateral lines
  4. Manually open all electronic valves to allow lateral lines to drain into mainline
  5. Keep valve solenoids and bleeder valves open for winter
  6. Open test ports on backflow device in order to winterize backflow device
  7. Close gate valves on backflow device
For this service, we charge $100.00 (4 zones), if paid for before December 1st. (Any winterizations done after Dec. 1st are considered a regular service call and subject to our regular service call rate of $185.00)

Irrigation Spring Startup

Our spring sprinkler system activation is a detailed service call where we not only reverse the 7 steps above to re-pressurize your entire system, but we also include a full zone-by-zone inspection of your system to make sure your system gets started in full working order. We test every valve, every zone, and every head. Below is a summary of our spring activation procedure and pricing:
  1. Reverse each of the 7 steps above that were done for sprinkler winterization
  2. Check each valve that it opens and closes properly
  3. Check that electronic wiring is still secure
  4. Check each sprinkler head to be sure it’s operating correctly, fully retracting, and spraying the desired direction.
  5. Clean and/or replace any clogged filters or nozzles as necessary
  6. Check that there are no visible leaks at backflow device
  7. Check that there are no visible leaks at valve manifold
For this service, we charge just $135.00 (4 zones), if paid for before May 1st. (A spring activation done after May 1st is considered a regular service call and subject to our regular service call rate of $185.00)
